Metro DC Board members and chapter leaders

It’s been a burst of activity for us over the course of the last several days in Denver, Colorado–and we’re far from finished. In addition to our yearly Membership Meeting, there was a full slate of programs in partnership with other philanthropic affinity groups and allies, including the Council on Foundations (COF).

Members and friends gather in Denver, CO for AAPIP 2010 Annual Meeting

More than 50 members, friends, partners and allies gathered at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Denver, Colorado for the AAPIP 2010 Annual Membership Meeting.

In addition to a full agenda, highlights included a short, moving slideshow on “Building Democratic Philanthropy”, as a lead-up to the AAPIP National Philanthropy Summit, on October 20, 2010. And members had an opportunity to meet AAPIP’s new Membership Services Manager, Kimi Mojica!

Following breakfast, Kathy Im, Outgoing Chair of the AAPIP Board of Directors called the meeting to order and began a full agenda which included presenting newly elected Board members, appointment of new Board officers, and updates from AAPIP chapters (plus Silicon Valley).

Greetings allies and friends of AAPIP,

We’re thrilled to roll out this new section of our website for AAPIP’s 20th Anniversary activities.

Our starting hopes with this blog are two-fold:

1) to create a holding area for the latest information about AAPIP 2010 events and programs as we celebrate our 20th year of leadership bridging our communities and philanthropy, and

2) to begin creating an online community for AAPIP members, friends, partners and allies to share with each other their thoughts, ideas, practices and knowledge.  As we continue to grow and as AAPIP’s network continues to expand, we hope you’ll come to view AAPIP.org as a key resource for learning, for engaging and for building democratic philanthropy.
