ERG engagement in the Asian Pacific Islander community - Seattle

Tue, March 28, 2017 -
4:30pm to 7:30pm

We invite you to join us for an open dialogue on the emerging needs of the local Asian Pacific Islander (API) community and how employee resource groups (ERGs) are engaging their members to make a difference.
Please RSVP here for the event.

We are pleased to welcome Deputy Mayor, Hyeok Kim, as our keynote speaker to kick off the event. As Seattle’s first female Asian American deputy mayor for the City of Seattle, Deputy Mayor Kim is responsible for helping to develop and promote meaningful connections and relationships between the Mayor’s office and city government with the diverse neighborhoods and communities of Seattle and partners. Deputy Mayor Kim will provide an overview of the emerging needs in the local API community.

The second half of the program will feature a panel to explore how employee resource groups (ERGs) in local companies are engaging their members to get more involved. Panelists will share best practices and raise awareness to the diversity of approaches to engage members in the local API community. This will be a unique opportunity to meet and hear from API leaders sharing their insights on how they have strengthened philanthropic support to the underserved API community.

Panel speakers include:

Kim Vu, Senior Vice President, Bank of America

Joneil Sampana, Asian ERG Outreach Lead, Microsoft

Eugene Hsu, Board Member, Asians at Amazon, Global Diversity ERG

Huong Nguyen-Yap, Membership Program Manager, AAPIP (moderator)

We invite API ERG leaders and active members, corporate giving representatives, and foundation staff to join this informative and compelling conversation. The panel will be followed by networking. Light snacks and refreshments will be served. Contact gap [at] (gap [at] if you have any questions- we look forward to seeing you there!
