Job Description: 

Indivisible is seeking a Director of Digital Fundraising to create and implement an innovative, ambitious online fundraising plan. Indivisible’s online giving program is at the core of its fundraising philosophy, and continuing to grow it is vital to the organization’s continued success.

Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, the Director will work to sustain and build on an organization-wide commitment to its small dollar program, as well as increase revenue through all online channels, including email, social, SMS, and web. The Director will work closely with both the Communications and Development teams to convert website, social media, SMS, and email audiences to donors; to build out an aggressive and ambitious direct donate advertising program; to steward our current pool of online donors; and to significantly build our monthly donor and merch programs.

The Director will hire and oversee two staff. This is a senior-level position within Indivisible. The Director of Digital Fundraising will sit on the organization’s senior team. They will also serve as a senior member of the Communications Team, working with other members of the team to shape and build team culture, best practices and processes, as well as help prioritize projects and strategies to meet long-term objectives.

We are hiring for this position immediately. This position is full-time, with a salary range of $85,000-$100,000 per year, commensurate with experience. This position in located in Washington D.C., however, remote candidates may be considered. Digital fundraising program (50%):
Develop, monitor, refine, and reach substantial fundraising projections.
Develop and oversee the implementation of online fundraising campaigns, including rapid response opportunities, monthly giving, and other special appeals across all digital channels, including web, social, SMS, and email to raise several million dollars in 2019.
Quickly learn tone, style, and message of Indivisible across all platforms (email, online advertising, SMS, social media, website, etc.) to accurately and effectively communicate fundraising asks through both writing and editing.
In coordination with the Data and Development Teams, develop and analyze reports to track performance of the small dollar giving program.
Coordinate with program staff across the organization to develop fundraising campaigns that reflect organizational strategy and fund planned programs and tactics.

Coordination and collaboration (25%):
In partnership with the Strategic Communications Director and an advertising firm, manage an aggressive online advertising campaign to to acquire, engage, and cultivate donors through all digital channels with a goal of hitting ambitious short-term fundraising targets, maximizing long-term revenue, and growing our donor base.
Collaborate and partner with the Strategic Communications Director and other members of the digital team to co-manage our email, SMS, and publications calendars.
Collaborate with the Creative and Digital Campaigns Teams to co-manage Indivisible’s growing merch program.
Collaborate with the Creative, Web, and Digital Campaigns Teams to optimize landing and donation pages and implement testing plans to improve performance and increase income.
Work closely with the Data Team to analyze email, web, SMS, and fundraising performance to improve our fundraising asks, iterate program, and adjust projections as needed.
Collaborate with Development and Data Teams to streamline the integration of communications systems with Salesforce and maintain data integrity.

Management and leadership (25%):
Hire and manage two staff with an eye toward growth and development.
Manage vendors and other external relationships for direct donate and other outreach efforts.
Develop a regular system for reporting out on our fundraising efforts, campaigns, and long-term strategies with the Chief Communications Officer, senior leadership, Finance Team, and the Development Team.
Sit on the organization’s senior team. Work with other senior members of the communications staff to help shape the team’s culture and priorities.

6-10 years combined of relevant professional experience, with 5+ years, or 3 cycles, of digital fundraising experience, including development of strategy and projections, as well as implementation and meeting ambitious targets.
Experience managing a digital advertising program and budget to grow an email list and acquire new donors.
Extensive and diverse experience writing and editing copy for digital audiences across email, SMS, websites, and social media.
Solid understanding of digital best practices for engagement, including but not limited to: testing, optimization, digital marketing, and advertising.
Experience with email systems (including ActionKit, Blue State Digital, Action Network, Convio), audience segmentation and data integration, and online fundraising platforms (such as ActBlue).
Proven ability to work effectively across departments and to build consensus for ideas, strategies, and projections among key stakeholders.
Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and the ability to meet aggressive deadlines.
A high level of expertise in digital fundraising combined with willingness and ability to formulate a plan and personally implement down to smallest details.
Demonstrated skill in managing staff.
Cultural competency and experience writing for many audiences about social justice issues, especially racial justice and immigrant rights.
Proactive, creative; thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Alignment on the core values and strategy of the Indivisible Project.


Ability to create graphics through tools like Photoshop and Canva.
Experience with HTML, CSS.
Experience working in the immigrant rights, racial justice, or economic justice movements, and/or understanding of federal policies around these issues.
Experience with Salesforce highly desirable.
