Reporting to the vice president, donor experience and engagement or to a senior philanthropy advisor, the philanthropy advisor is responsible for serving a portfolio of donors, building our capacity to serve as a comprehensive center for philanthropy and for contributing to the community foundation’s work to deliver a world class experience to all donors.
Serve as the community foundation’s representative to a portfolio of high net worth donors, cultivating and maintaining meaningful relationships.
Deliver thoughtful and responsive services that meet individual goals for giving.
Build awareness and financial support among donors for community foundation programs, initiatives, and special events.
Provide strategic philanthropic planning, implementation and evaluation.
Provide grantmaking support, such as research, due diligence and site visits, to support each donor’s goals for giving.
Actively connect donors with expert staff across the community foundation (planned giving, grantmaking, investments, etc.) to meet the needs of donors.
Engage donors in community foundation events, initiatives and activities, including peer-to-peer learning opportunities, such as donor circles.
Assist with our efforts to build strong practices and operations in our delivery of a world class Plan and implement donor events and lead special projects.
Stay current on trends in philanthropy and issues of community importance.
Represent the community foundation at events and conferences.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree a plus.
Minimum 7+ years’ experience and demonstrated success in managing complex client relationships and/or institutional grantmaking in a fast-paced organization.
Knowledge of and keen interest in the evolving landscape of philanthropy and the public and nonprofit sectors.
Demonstrated commitment to service and the transformational potential of giving
Excellent written and oral communication, presentation and listening skills for multiple and diverse audiences.
Excellent information technology skills.
Attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent people and project management skills, with an ability to work with diverse people in multicultural environments.
Ability to approach situations and challenges with a sense of humor.
