Job Description: 

Grantmakers for Effective Organizations is seeking a fulltime summer associate to join an
entrepreneurial membership association in Washington, D.C. This role will directly contribute to GEO’s internal effectiveness and programming. Start and end dates are negotiable. This is a temporary position and is not benefits eligible. This position pays $17/hour. Some specific responsibilities could include:

Communications Team
• Communications member recruitment support
• Work with team to develop email campaigns
• Work with team to implement strategy for using communications to reach nonmembers
• Website updates

Program Team
• Work with team to support peer learning, including in-person and remote peer learning by providing content support for speaking engagements
• Conduct small research and analysis projects to help inform GEO’s programming
• Administrative support including preparing materials and scheduling for meetings
• Provide additional project support to members of the team, as needed

Revenue Team
• Member prospect research, including rate research for trip planning
• Fundraising prospect research
• Conduct small research projects to help inform revenue team’s priorities
• Lead generation
• Contribute to the overall revenue team agenda through research, data and trend analysis, and development
• Administrative support including preparing materials and scheduling for meetings


• Recent college graduate or someone looking for hands-on experience in a nonprofit membership association
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities at the same time
• Ability to be a self-starter and team player, especially in the context of a small, entrepreneurial organization
• Willingness to support an organization in the midst of cultural transformation to integrate a racial equity lens into its mission
• Previous work experience with nonprofit organizations, foundations and/or membership organizations is helpful but not required
