Maya Iwata

Maya Iwata (she/her/hers) is the Vice President of Partnerships. She is a weaver, builder, and grassroots philanthropist with 25+ years at diverse social justice nonprofits, including Gay Men’s Health Crisis, Race Forward, Partners for Dignity & Rights, and most recently, World Pulse.  Her past programmatic work has deep roots in health and mental health with a lens of intersectional racial justice grounded in HIV/AIDS work in the ’90s and early 2000s. 

A longtime AAPIP member and a former AAPIP Chapter co-chair, Maya is a founding board member of two giving circles, served on grants committees for community foundations and is currently on the advisory committee of Bee’s Fund at the Stonewall Community Foundation. She has a B.A. in social psychology from Cornell University and an M.S. from Columbia University. Born in Virginia and a longtime New Yorker, Maya has lived in three of the five boroughs.
