Samanta Ratsavong (she/her) is a first-generation Lao-American born and raised in Akron, Ohio. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Social Work (MSW) at Columbia University. After graduating from Ohio State University, Samanta worked as a Case Manager for API survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. In this capacity, she led Central Ohio efforts in culturally-sensitive survivor advocacy, API community partnerships, and increasing engagement between trauma-informed services and local API communities. She is passionate about sustaining the holistic wellness of immigrant, refugee, and New American communities by creatively leveraging social media, technology, and cross-sectoral partnerships (public/private/nonprofit) as social justice tools.
