Job Description
Location: Full-time, remote (5% travel required)
Compensation: Starting salary range of $90,000 -$120,000. Salary range is based on D.C./DMV area. Compensation will be adjusted for other geographic locations.
The Senior Manager, People is responsible for actively managing recruiting, on/offboarding, benefits administration, compliance, leaves of absence, payroll (via a vendor), and HR technologies.
-Be a steward of the Council’s culture, modeling values and demonstrating behaviors in support of inclusion, equity, and access; participate as a member of the Race, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (REDI) committee.
-Implement People initiatives and programs in new ways to adapt to evolving staff and organizational needs; create and report metrics documenting the success of HR initiatives.
-Support departments in the execution of HR programs in alignment with REDI, organizational culture and operating principles.
-Partner with VP and colleagues to implement annual employee engagement surveys; recommend strategies to address areas of concern in survey responses and prepare related action plans.
-Identify staffing and recruiting needs; develop and execute best practices for hiring and partnering with vendor resources.
-Manage the recruitment process, including job postings, utilization of the applicant tracking system, partnering with People Managers to assess candidate skills and facilitate the offer process.
-Coordinate semi-monthly payroll processing and new state registrations in concert with the Finance team and external vendor.
-Oversee the workers’ compensation program, including enrollment for new states and accuracy of policy coverage throughout the plan year.
-Manage both the on and off boarding process, ensuring the process is regularly updated and reflective of the Council’s culture and principles.
-Administer multiple HR programs, including benefits, leave of absence, payroll, and performance review process to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.
-Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal and state employment law requirements.
-Actively participate in the writing and updating of programs and policies in support of the organization.
-Assist in implementing the Council’s compensation program, including job description updates, job market analysis and researching geographic differential data.
-Coordinate the work of multiple vendors, monitor the relationships and key performance indicators, research additional resources and vendors in support of organizational programs.
-Foster a learning culture within the organization by collaborating with People Managers to identify training needs.
-Maintain regular, consistent availability to consult with People Managers and employees regarding People matters.
-Keep leadership informed of important developments, potential problems, and related information necessary for effective management.
-Actively participate in the overall maintenance of the department, including managing HR data, employee files and records, and ensuring compliance with required filings, disclosures, and communications.
Job Qualifications
Requirements
-8 years of recent experience performing similar HR duties
-5 years of recent experience researching and complying with Federal regulations and multi-state employment
laws
-Substantive knowledge of several HR functions and best practices
-HR Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred
-Performing HR functions in a nonprofit or philanthropic organization preferred
