Become an Individual Member

AAPIP is the professional and political home for AANHPI professionals, advisors, and donors in philanthropy at every career stage from a first-year program associate to a foundation CEO. Individual membership gets you a vote in AAPIP’s annual Board election, discounted or free access to convenings and briefings including CHANGE Philanthropy’s Unity Summit, and a community of leaders with shared experiences and goals. Your membership also funds research on where AANHPI communities are overlooked in philanthropic giving, funder briefings, and convenings for AANHPI folks to find belonging, care, and co-conspirators.

Our work is guided by five values:

Racial Solidarity in Action: We work at the intersection of anti-Asian and anti-Black racism, unapologetically advocating for Asian American communities in allyship with Black and all marginalized communities.
Ethnic Diversity: Asian Americans have been racialized as a single group across vast cultural and regional differences, hailing from more than 50 countries and speaking over 100 languages. We recognize both the similarities and the complexities within and across these diasporic experiences.
Multi-Generational: We make space for leadership across generations.
Abundance: We approach philanthropy from abundance, driven by love of community.
Most Impacted: We center the lived experience of people and communities most impacted and closest to the ground.

Individual Membership Eligibility

Individual members include:

Staff members, directors, trustees, or officers of a grantmaking entity (e.g., foundations, grantmaking networks, philanthropy associations, government, or public charities with grantmaking activities)
Professional providers of philanthropic services (e.g. investment/wealth managers or advisors; legal or financial advisors serving as trustees or advisors to trusts or foundations; or consultants and businesses providing organizational planning, strategy, evaluation or search services to a substantial client list of foundations or other grantmaking entities);
Individual philanthropists whose annual charitable giving is $5,000 or more; or
Currently active members of an AAPIP-affiliated Giving Circle.

Eligible to vote in the annual AAPIP Board election

Eligible to be nominated for election to the AAPIP board or to serve as an AAPIP Chapter co-chair
Opportunities to become involved in ad hoc committees or working groups

Member discount rate at AAPIP National Network Convening / Annual Meeting and other programs.
Member newsletter and priority invitations to AAPIP programs and special events.
AAPIP member-only programs or discounts, or access to programs AAPIP co-sponsors or hosts, such as CHANGE Philanthropy’s Unity Summit and collaborative funder briefings with other networks.

Membership Dues

Individual Membership dues are $300 per year.

A note on dues: These above rate has been in place for more than ten years. Starting January 1, 2027, AAPIP is adjusting institutional dues to fund our ambitious new Strategic Plan and bring our rates in line with peer organizations. If your institution sets its budget in the fall, we wanted you to have this on your radar now. Full details are coming this fall. Questions?
