AAPIP’s new board members and officers

At the 2011 AAPIP Annual Meeting, the AAPIP Board of Directors welcomed four new directors and new executive officers, as well as recognized the contributions of three outgoing directors.

Edwin Eng joins the AAPIP Board of Directors to fill the remainder of a term vacancy for Dr. Albert Yee. Dr. Yee left the Board recently after leaving the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, to join the Education Development Center in Boston.  Edwin is Senior Vice President with Cain Brothers, based in San Francisco. He joins the Board as an individual philanthropist with extensive experience in organizational management and nonprofit finance.

Suk Rhee is the Vice President of Planning and Operations at the Northwest Health Foundation, based in Portland, Oregon.  She has been a long-standing supporter of AAPIP and has organized several programs for grantmakers of color in the Northwest region.  In 2008 Suk organized a grantmaker briefing for the AAPIP report Growing Opportunities, and last October convened grantmakers in Portland for the 2010 AAPIP National Philanthropy Summit.

Liane Wong joins the Board of Directors from the Silicon Valley/South Bay, where she is a Program Officer with the David & Lucille Packard Foundation.  Liane’s long-standing membership with and support for AAPIP includes the careful and thoughtful development of AAPIP’s tenth and newest chapter, AAPIP–Silicon Valley/South Bay, which the Board approved in December 2010. Liane worked closely with AAPIP member and former AAPIP Executive Director, Marjorie Fujiki, Community Investment Officer with the Sobrato Family Foundation, in bringing the Silicon Valley chapter to life.

 

 

Ryan Yamamoto is a long-time AAPIP member and joins the AAPIP Board of Directors following his recent term as co-chair of the Los Angeles AAPIP chapter.  Ryan is a Project Manager for Kaiser Permanente Southern California Region.  In his capacity as co-chair Ryan has been effective at developing programming and providing leadership in convening one of AAPIP’s largest most diverse regional memberships.

 

 

 

 

In addition to welcoming four new members to the AAPIP Board of Directors, at the Annual Membership meeting 2011 Executive Officers were announced.  Taking the lead as Chair of the Board of Directors is Randy Chun, Regional Vice President for Corporate Community Development of the Wells Fargo Foundation.  Randy is now joined on the Executive Committee by Valerie Lee, of The Minneapolis Foundation, as Vice Chair, Jeff Kumataka, as Treasurer, and June Jee, of Verizon, as Secretary of the Board.
