Catherine Eusebio, AAPIP Social Justice Fellow, is set to receive honors as a “Champion of Change” on May 6th as the White House celebrates fifteen Asian American and Pacific Islander women for their outstanding work to create a more equal, safe, and prosperous future for AAPI communities.

“Catherine is truly a champion for change,” said Peggy Saika, President/Executive Director of AAPIP.  “Her life story personifies resilience, strength and a spirit of ‘never giving up.’ Her leadership trajectory is limitless and we are honored to have Catherine on the AAPIP team!”

In 2012, Catherine joined AAPIP as an API Dream Summer intern and has since stepped into the role of managing API Dream Summer. The program is a component of a national internship program that began for and by undocumented youth as a way to engage community and philanthropic partners to support the leadership development of immigrant youth.

As a leader in the undocumented youth movement, Catherine has written articles for publications such as the Huffington Post and Harvard Education Review and addressed individuals at several national conferences to share her story of being “undocumented and unafraid.” She says that she “strives to promote change that starts with empowering the most impacted people to lead.”

Catherine holds a BA in Political Science from UC Berkeley where as an undergraduate she served on the Chancellor’s Task Force, which contributed to a legacy of lasting policy changes in the campus’ accessibility and support for undocumented students. Catherine also serves on the Board of Directors of United We Dream, the largest network of immigrant youth led organizations.
