Funder Briefing: Healthcare Access for Immigrant AANHPI Women+
April 14 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm PDT

Navigating Healthcare Access for Immigrant AANHPI Women+ in this Political Climate
The Congressional Budget Office estimates that more than 10 million people will lose coverage following last July’s Medicaid cuts. New work requirements take effect in January 2027. And starting this October, refugees, asylees, and other lawfully present immigrants will lose eligibility for Medicaid, CHIP, and subsidized marketplace coverage. This combined with the increase in workplace raids and fear of detention and deportation has profoundly impacted AANHPI immigrants that many refrain from leaving their homes to seek medical care, go to work, or even attend school, deepening inequities in immigrant communities.
These cuts land on top of intensified immigration enforcement that has kept many AANHPI immigrants from leaving their homes to seek medical care, go to work, or send their children to school. The convergence of these policies hits AANHPI immigrant women and gender-expansive individuals especially hard while just 0.34% of U.S. philanthropic dollars currently reach AANHPI communities.
This webinar will bring together policy experts, community leaders, and funders to discuss the critical role of Medicaid in immigrant communities with an emphasis on the intersecting effect of immigration status, gender, economic strain, and healthcare access. Join us to explore actionable strategies for philanthropy to strengthen safety nets, advance immigrant health equity, and ensure that immigrant AANHPI women are not left behind in this changing political climate.
