In 2002, we were the first chapter founded in the Pacific Northwest. Our membership hails from various parts of Washington and Oregon. Historically the Seattle area was considered a major gateway city for many immigrants including Asian American/Pacific Islanders (AAPIs). As a result, Seattle has one of oldest AAPI communities and continues to be both ethnically and socio-economically diverse. The philanthropic sector in our region leads the country with unique approaches to capacity building, civic engagement and rural philanthropy. We work collaboratively with foundations, philanthropic affinity groups and community-based organizations to address critical issues facing the diverse and growing communities in the region.
