This report gives a face and voice to the diverse Asian and Pacific Islander communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. The research examines data from the 2000 Census and other statistical studies. Commentaries by community representatives broaden the portraits of APIs and explain the complexity of their needs. While the growth of API groups in the Bay Area is dramatic, APIs still remain invisible to most philanthropists. The recommendations in this report challenge philanthropy to develop API communities through increased grantmaking and community partnerships. Prepared by the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of AAPIP, with a Forward by Michael Omi, PhD.
