Celebrating 35 years since its founding, AAPIP will be hosting its National Network Convening in Chicago, IL on May 19-21, 2025!
When AAPIP was founded in 1990, less than a handful of philanthropic professionals identified as Asian American, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander, and the needs of AANHPI communities were ignored, overlooked and undervalued by mainstream philanthropy. Over the last four decades, AAPIP has cultivated a robust network of AANHPI philanthropic professionals, co-conspirators, and allies who are committed to mobilizing more philanthropic resources to AANHPI communities and working in solidarity to advance racial justice.
At a time when there are more AANHPI philanthropic professionals than ever before, yet, philanthropic funding to AANHPI communities has remained stagnant, AAPIP invites philanthropy to reflect on and deepen their racial equity and racial justice strategies and practices. AANHPI communities are vast and diverse, facing a myriad of social and economic issues that remain unaddressed (and, in some cases, are rendered invisible).
Over these two days in Chicago, AAPIP will offer spaces for funders to deepen their understanding of AANHPI community needs and what role they can play in supporting AANHPI movements, spaces for connection and community building across AAPIP’s national network, and spaces for joy and celebration in the face of the many struggles our communities are grappling with.
