Rob Katz, executive chairperson of the board, Vail Resorts, Inc., and his wife, Elana Amsterdam, New York Times bestselling author and founder of Elana’s Pantry, launched the Katz Amsterdam Charitable Trust in 2017 and the Katz Amsterdam Foundation in 2018 to support the communities and issues they care about deeply, including mental health care and wellness in mountain resort towns and for BIPOC communities across the United States. Over the last several years, Rob and Elana have contributed nearly $200 million to their family foundation and charitable trust, and from that made grants of over $37 million.
Rob and Elana are deeply focused on giving back. They have great passion for justice and are committed to helping the country realize the promise of a multi-racial democracy. One that includes all BIPOC voices – to help ensure that resources needed to create impactful mental health systems flow to the communities most in need. Rob and Elana know that mountain communities, and those across the West, have faced tremendous community and personal impact from mental health and substance abuse issues, which has been amplified by a lack of services and stigma that is very real.
With the utmost respect for the complexities involved in such critical issues, the Katz Amsterdam Foundation will partner with community-based organizations to tackle the challenges that exist in mental and behavioral health. The Foundation hopes to be part of the solution as mountain and BIPOC communities put meaningful programs in place to have a direct impact on the people that need it most.
The Katz Amsterdam Foundation (KAF) is pleased to invite nominations and applications for the position of Foundation Coordinator. Established in 2018, the Foundation strives to be a catalyst for eliminating barriers to mental and behavioral health, increasing access to opportunity, and improving outcomes for all.
The Foundation works in partnership with our communities to advance just and equitable approaches to accessing mental and behavioral health care and protect our civil rights by increasing civic engagement and participation in our multiracial democracy. We do this work by addressing systemic injustice and racial gaps in mental health and well-being. KAF’s priority is to support community-driven work that meaningfully improves the lives of individuals and the social well-being of our communities.
Reporting to the Executive Director and partnering closely with the entire KAF team, the Foundation Coordinator will provide programmatic and administrative support across all activities of the organization, including grant-making, special events, and communications.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong commitment to social justice and the mission of KAF as well as experience providing administrative support and working on event logistics.
The Katz Amsterdam Foundation is based in Colorado, but the location for the Foundation Coordinator is flexible. KAF will support this role to work remotely, but there will be some travel involved.
The Foundation Coordinator will provide programmatic and administrative support across all activities of the organization and can expect to engage in the following, in addition to other tasks that arise:
- Administrative. Manage scheduling and technological support for the Executive Director and the entire KAF team, including the organization’s online services. Help organize staff and Board meetings.
- Special Event and Webinar Coordination. Assist with planning for and execution of the Annual Convening, including logistics management. Manage webinar and other meeting logistics including communications and material distribution.
- Grant-Making Support. During the different grant processes each year, support the senior grants manager and program staff in all aspects of the grants process. Responsibilities include: research of potential grantees, maintaining grantee database, scheduling and documenting grantee meetings, and preparing and distributing grantee communications.
- Communications. Help maintain the KAF website and manage regular updates to the site. Work with KAF staff to draft and distribute media communications each grant cycle. Manage and field external inquiries to/for appropriate staff.
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
While KAF values a candidate’s educational and academic achievements, the foundation wants to focus on the work experiences a candidate has had in this and other fields. The ideal candidate for the Foundation Coordinator will be organized, self-motivated, supportive and a team player, as well as looking for personal and professional growth.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The salary range for the Foundation Coordinator is $55,000 to $70,000, commensurate with experience, and a benefits package that includes health care benefits through QSEHRA (Qualified Small Employer HRA) plan that reimburses premiums and out-of-pocket expenses, an employer-matched 401(k), and an employer matching personal donation program.
