New York Chapter - Summer Social Recap

This summer, about 25 AAPIP-NY members and friends gathered for an evening of community, connection, and joy.

We celebrated Pride Month, Immigrant Heritage Month, and a historic moment for New York and Filipino representation in basketball. This year marked the first time two players of Filipino heritage, Jordan Clarkson and Dylan Harper, faced each other in the NBA Finals. And when the Knicks brought home their first NBA championship in 53 years, it was a particularly special moment for a city that had been waiting since 1973 to celebrate an NBA title.

We kept the celebration going with an impromptu dinner party at WangLangNYC, enjoying delicious Thai food and great company.

At a time when so many communities are navigating uncertainty and challenge, evenings like this remind us of the importance of gathering—to celebrate, strengthen relationships, and imagine what’s possible together.

Grateful for this AAPIP-NY community and the joy and solidarity we continue to build together.
